Origami Angel Bring Their Boundary-Pushing Emo to Manchester Gorilla [Photos]

Kicking off their UK tour just a few days prior to this gig, Origami Angel rolled into Manchester for the third date of this 8-date run which brings them to the UK in support of their recently released album Feeling Not Found.

The duo, comprising singer/guitarist Ryland Heagy and drummer Pat Doherty, start their set with the opening two tracks from the album, “Lost Signal” and “Dirty Mirror Selfie,” before plundering their back catalogue for a night of jangly, Washington DC emo.

Perfectly in sync with each other, the duo drenched this crowd with hook-filled emo as they followed up the new album opening pairing with “24 Hr Drive-Thru from their 2019 debut Somewhere City, an album also represented by “Skeleton Key,” “The Title Track,” and “666 Flags,” a triple offering which brought up the rear of their 70-minute set.

Peppered throughout the rest of their set, the band also revisited their 2023 offering Gami Gang in the form of “Self-Destruct” and “Bossa Nova Corps,” amongst others.
