After recently announcing the release of the remaster of their 2016 full-length debut Sorry in the Summer, Impulsive Hearts has released a music video for “SVE YRSELF.” The album will be released via the acclaimed indie-rock label Cavity Search Records (Elliott Smith, Helio Sequence) and is set for release on March 28th.

Discussing the song and its origins, frontwoman Danielle Sines states:

“‘SVE YRSELF’ (pronounced ‘Save Yourself’) was one of the first songs I ever wrote as Impulsive Hearts. It’s about taking a risk, daring yourself to try something new, being open, falling in love. I recorded this in my bedroom studio in Chicago and then added drums and instruments with the band at my parent’s house in Northern Michigan back in 2015. During the pandemic, I asked Brian Fox (Electric Audio, Altered States Recording) to remix the original files I had saved on my computer. I’m so glad we did because the computer died later that year and I would have lost all the original files! I’m excited Cavity Search is releasing this remixed and remastered version — it sounds so good and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it!”

As a staple in the Chicago music scene for the past decade, Impulsive Hearts has received plenty of acclaim in their career as a band. Renowned critic Jessica Hopper wrote in the Chicago Tribune before that Danielle’s “songs are studies in contrast, sweet melodies and then distortion and rage.”

The band has grown in the past decade while not abandoning their surfy indie-rock roots, as heard on their third album, Fit 4 The Apocalypse, last year, also on Cavity Search Records. Ever since their debut, they’ve been likened to Best Coast and Dum Dum Girls, with frontwoman Danielle Sines saying the band adds a “hint of indelible Midwestern sadness” to the band’s garage pop sound.
