Impulsive Hearts Announce Remaster of ‘Sorry in the Summer’ Debut via Cavity Search Records
Impulsive Hearts will be releasing the full remaster of ‘Sorry in the Summer’ this spring on March 28th via Cavity Search Records.

Surfy indie-rock band Impulsive Hearts hit the Chicago music scene back in 2014 with an EP. Since fleshing those songs out with their 2016 full-length debut Sorry in the Summer, the band has evolved in the last decade, giving their first songs a new sheen with new remasters. Today, the band announces the remaster to Sorry in the Summer with the single “YKILY (2.0 Version)” via Cavity Search Records.
The band has grown in the past decade while not abandoning their surfy indie-rock roots, as heard on their third album, Fit 4 The Apocalypse, last year, also on Cavity Search Records. Ever since their debut, they’ve been likened to Best Coast and Dum Dum Girls, with frontwoman Danielle Sines saying the band adds a “hint of indelible Midwestern sadness” to the band’s garage pop sound.
Sines said of the original song “YKILY” and the “2.0” remaster, “This song is so deeply personal to me. It perfectly encapsulates a time of my life where I went to school ‘to cure myself’ in a therapy grad school program.” While she loves the original recording, too, the remaster reflects the band’s growth.
She continued:
“This song is all about facing my SELF — who I am at my very core. I reference my family of origin in lyrics, ‘your mother warned you, you better stop it.’ And ‘your father loved you, both that’s all you get.’ It’s a passionate, intense song and has always been a staple of my live performance. The band started playing this song in such a new way, and we wanted to capture the song’s evolution.”
Impulsive Hearts will be releasing the full remaster of Sorry in the Summer this spring on March 28th. While the remaster will not be on vinyl, the original pressing is on the band’s Bandcamp here. Follow Impulsive Hearts on Instagram or TikTok for more.
