Bridge The Gap Cleans Up with Their “Dustbin” Music Video! [Premiere]
Punk rock band Bridge The Gap premieres their music video for “Dustbin” from their brand-new album ‘Gainsayer’ (Double Helix Records).
Within the tradition of the genre in which their music identifies, Bridge The Gap is straight to the point with their latest single, “Dustbin.” This one has no hidden meanings, innuendos, or concealed implications. You can hear it in lead singer and guitarist Chad Jensen’s lyrics when he sings of the “lessons of the past.”
As Jensen states himself when asked about the song:
“This is a song about the risk of history repeating itself due to ignorance.”
“Dustbin” comes from the band’s latest album, Gainsayer. This is a quick follow-up for Bridge The Gap, coming out of the release of their debut full-length album, Secret Kombinations, in 2023. The band seemingly arrived out of nowhere back in 2023 with the release of that debut record. However, this is not a recently formed group of musicians still working on creating chemistry. These are three men who have been playing together since the 1990s. As it turns out, it was only recently that the planets aligned, and they were able to turn Bridge The Gap into a full-time endeavour.
The music video for “Dustbin” is a fun one, loaded with lots of retro punk grit and energy. Commenting on the process behind creating the video, Jensen comments:
“We had so much fun making ‘Dustbin.’ Once again, we had the opportunity to work with (director) Eric Cannon, and together, we had some fun ideas for the music video that really panned out. We had a fun hang with some Bridge The Gap fans in Las Vegas who got to be in the video, along with some friends and even family. We love the gritty feel of the video. It complements the song well. And it was a blast working with Eric for the second time. He’s super knowledgeable, experienced, creative, and makes it really easy on the band and fun.”
Despite them recently releasing Secret Kombinations, Bridge The Gap had no desire to delay recording a follow-up. So, approximately 20 months after finishing their debut, they returned to The Blasting Room in Fort Collins, Colorado, to record Gainsayer. For this second go around, they felt more experienced and cohesive, and they felt more ready to “perform.” They also felt more ready, partially because they spent a lot of time in pre-production identifying the songs that they had that would work well together as a cohesive set of tracks. Within this pre-production timeframe, the band crafted the arrangements and vocal melodies so the recording would be smooth and productive.
So what you get now is the 14-song set you hear on Gainsayer. The album’s foundation is the strong vocal melodies and 14 songs that speak to who Bridge The Gap is as a unit. Judging by their history, they have put the work in, and this new record is their declaration that they are here to stay.
