Ty Wood – “Magic” [Song Review]
Describing “Magic,” the second single from Ty Wood, as first-class still seems to somehow under-represent it.

Nashville-based pop-rock singer-songwriter Ty Wood recently released his single, “Magic,” a song about the universal human desire for love and connection.
Wood explains, “Life should be lived and shared with those we care about and who care about us. I’m sure it sounds simple, but we often get so busy that we miss ‘moments.’”
As a child, Wood learned piano, followed by guitar, followed by writing songs. Later, even though he took on the role of entrepreneur, music was always there, providing emotional egress and inspiration.
In 2021, Wood experienced a cusp of transition when his father passed away. The loss led him to the realization that true happiness is not found in possessions but in savoring all life has to offer and sharing those moments with others. Inspired, he traveled across the country, meeting people, listening to their stories, and writing songs.
Produced by Barrett Yeretsian, the musicians on “Magic” include Ty Wood (vocals, keyboards, guitar), Derrick Murdock (bass), Kevin Haaland (guitar), and Yeretsian on drums.
“Magic” opens on a straightforward drum shuffle, rolling into an upbeat, gleaming melody brimming with pop-rock energy. Wood’s vocals, vaguely reminiscent of Don Henley crossed with John Mellencamp, imbue the lyrics with contagious, sonic sensations, forming a definite feel-good response in listeners.
