Occurrence Rock Things Up with Their “Feeding Time” Music Video [Premiere]
Electronic rock act Occurrence has returned with the premiere of their new “Feeding Time” music video from their new album ‘Real Friend.’
The 2020s have put a lot into focus, and Occurrence wanted to acknowledge some of life’s most important values with their new album Real Friend. Along with the album announcement, the electronic trio is excited to release the record’s first single, “Feeding Time.” Accompanying the debut of the song is a lyric/music video featuring vocalist Johnny Hager performing the song from his kitchen.
While Occurrence is more typically known as an electronic act, this track has more of an electronic rock feel to it, a song that would feel right in a rock club. The rock sound of “Feeding Time” was aided by the helping hand of guitarist Damian Baldet. Baldet is an old friend of bandleader and instrumentalist Ken Urban. The two hadn’t spoken in a while. But as the song began to develop, it became obvious to Urban that Baldet and his unique guitar skills were just what the song needed.
Elaborating on the song, Urban states:
“I wrote that song about calling myself out on my bullshit, but I kept hearing a proper guitar solo, so I reached out and Damian brought the riffs.”
We are longtime supporters of Occurrence, having premiered their music video for “Universe Moves So Fast” nearly two years ago from their SLOW VIOLENCE album. Now they are back with that album’s follow-up, Real Friend, an album focused on nothing except friendship. The last half-decade has been a time of reflection for many. When Occurrence was able to reconvene as a band when the COVID pandemic was winding down, they began to reflect on the values of friendship. It was a theme very much in focus at the time thanks to government-mandated lockdowns and, of course, people who passed away.
Within these personal reflections, they discussed how friends had drifted away from them during this time and it left everyone feeling a little bit alone. But the band members all took great solace in the fact that they still had each other. So they wrote songs about one another and the other important people in their lives. There are no filters on Real Friend. This is just three friends united more than ever and feeling reassured by their support for one another.
