ET Boys – “Far Away” [Song Review]

“Far Away,” the brand-new single/music video from ET Boys, illustrates how innovative and yet how difficult the duo can be to categorize. Their music pulls from pop, hip-hop, R&B, soul, and an array of other genres, but it’s too cutting-edge to be boiled down to one or the other. Not quite pop, not quite hip-hop, it’s in between, a confluence, probably best described as the point where nu-alt-pop meets melodic rap.

The duo, brothers Tacboy and Sharkeyes, describe their sound simply as “ET Style.” Regardless of how it’s defined, it’s good stuff!

Talking about “Far Away,” vocalist/lyricist Tacboy says, “The song was inspired by how I was feeling on a sad, sweet, but sad night, and the video is inspired by my love for early pop punk bands.”

Produced by platinum-winning producer David Gnozzi, “Far Away” follows on the heels of “Love Me If You Must,” released in the last quarter of 2024. ET Boys have topped the Digital Radio Tracker Independent Charts with “Bong Bong,” “This Is Us,” and “Until Forever.” Their debut single, “Sober,” has amassed more than one million streams on Spotify, while their debut album, Forever Night, has collected over three million streams, and their recent EP, PAOPU, realized more than one million streams on Spotify.

“Far Away” opens with percolating tones flowing into a melody, blending hints of pop, hip-hop, and new wave flavors. Tacboy’s vocals, at once dreamy and wildly liberating, evoke a feeling of almost fateful eventualities, a kind of flow state where anything can happen. @DuniBunni’s video is raw, spontaneous, and chaotic, resembling an off-the-cuff creation by ET Boys.

The South Florida duo’s “Far Away” resonates with an aura of primal energy, making it one of the coolest tracks in forever.
