Claire Adams’ new single, “Westerlies,” is a beautiful reflection on life, death, and everything in between. With its warm musical sensibility, the song feels like a calm breeze, carrying a message about the natural cycles of joy, sadness, and connection.

In the song, Adams reflects on the inevitability of death but connects it to nature through gentle metaphors. “I try not to dwell on thoughts of death, but it’s an unavoidable subject,” she says. “I wanted to connect those thoughts to nature in really soft, calm metaphors.” Her vocals float over the music, backed by delicate harmonies that add color to the song’s peaceful, contemplative mood.

The track features talented musicians like Lyndsay Pruett (Jon Stickley Trio) on fiddle, Fritz Hutchison on mandolin, and Abraham Villaseñor on guitar. It was recorded at Rio Verde in Guadalajara, Mexico, with additional work done by Duane Trower in Kansas City.

Adams, a bassist, guitarist, singer, and songwriter, is known for her musical curiosity and collaborative spirit. “The process for this recording was really natural,” she shares. “. . . connecting with new friends and old friends, bringing the sounds of musicians from Kansas City, Asheville, and Guadalajara together to make a simple, bluegrass inspired arrangement.” With the new single, Claire Adams did just that.

“Westerlies” is an elegant, natural and soothing song that takes listeners on a mindful journey through life’s ups and downs, offering a peaceful way to reflect on the changes that shape us.
