From black and white to colour and past to present, Boston Flowers impresses with the brand new music video for “Afterlife.” If you’re wondering what we mean, you’ll have to check out the band’s latest video clip. The Brooklyn group really worked hard on this new video. It features performance shots of the band intermixed with black and white shots that look like they’re from the 1940s as well as some more amusing performative bits from the present. The song is from the band’s EP of the same name. It is the follow-up to last year’s debut record Mondegreen.

Discussing the Afterlife EP, singer and guitarist Sam Trestman shares:

“Influenced by my work in healthcare for a decade together with a personal near-death experience, the Afterlife EP reflects on the polarity of human experience and undergoing its constant cycles of change.”

For a young man, Trestman has led an interesting life with some real highs and lows. When he was 19 and away at college, he was hit by a car late one night crossing the street. His injuries were life-threatening which required an extended period of time spent in acute and rehabilitative care. Despite the stacked odds against him, Trestman made a surprising recovery, returned to school, and earned a bachelor’s and then a master’s degree in nursing. Inspired by the care that he received from others, Trestman wanted to give back and provide that same experience to others as a nurse.

At the same time, rock n’ roll is just as important to Trestman which motivates him to write and record with Boston Flowers. The band members are indie rock kids at heart and have become a mainstay in their Brooklyn locale. The band has made the local rounds, often playing popular places like Arlene’s Grocery, The Delancey, Berlin Under A, and Bar Freda. They even host their own rooftop shows in Brooklyn. Despite his career in nursing, Trestman is fully committed to Boston Flowers and the band is looking forward to building off of the release of Afterlife.
