The Clamor Premieres Their “Staircase Stomp” Music Video
The Clamor is feeling pretty good about things with the premiere of their new music video for “Staircase Stomp.”
Sometimes music videos are just a song put to visuals, but sometimes, like in the case of The Clamor’s “Staircase Stomp,” they go hand in hand with understanding the meaning and purpose of the song. Led by Aaron Louis, the New York City band has reached back in the past for some inspiration for the video, a stop-motion story of internal strife.
The song focuses on the allure of self-destructive behaviour caused by a sense of emptiness. Unmet desires in life can lead to internal rebellion and a journey seeking out comfort and connection. Ultimately, “Staircase Stomp” is a call to reconsider these dark tendencies and question your own rebellious, negative thoughts.
Commenting on the video, Aaron Louis states:
“The ‘Staircase Stomp’ music video brings together the meticulous stop-motion artistry of Jody McKee and the dynamic digital animation of Scotty Hull to explore themes of identity and inner conflict. With the animator’s haunting visuals, and lyrics that delve into psychological tension, the video blurs the lines between external chaos and internal struggles, offering what I hope is a meaningful reflection on the complexity of self-awareness.”
While Louis is the driving force behind The Clamor, he is well supported by a talented array of contributors and instrumentalists. Some of these names include Gary Atturio, Omer Leibovitz, Kirk Schoenherr, and Layton Weedeman. Outside of the band, the great Alan Douches mastered “Staircase Stomp” in his West West Side Music studio in New York City.
While The Clamor is a relatively new endeavour for Louis, the singer and songwriter has etched out for himself an incredible career within the arts. Louis is currently the Director of Audio Visual at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City, one of the premiere art museums in the world. He also acts in an advisory role on other boards like for 3-Legged Dog Media + Theater Group and Ideas Beyond Borders. Louis is also a published author of several books, including 2003’s Things That Hang From Trees and its screenplay adaptation.
Louis enjoys maintaining a highly diverse and versatile career in the arts and he’s deservedly reserved much critical adulation for it. Currently, he’s happy to be focusing on The Clamor and concentrating on his own songwriting and producing.
