When Scott Collins tunes up his guitar and warms up his voice, you can be sure that he’s cooking up something fine. It’s that old-school Americana mentality that continues to drive him to this day. It’s evident in his new single “Run Away (For Now),” which he’s revealing today, along with an animated lyric video.

Collins is an artist we have been supporting for a number of years now. He continues to work hard at it, recently putting together a new batch of songs that he will soon present as his latest EP. “Run Away (For Now)” was actually written over ten years ago. Collins decided to resurrect the song while adding a few new twists and details. But at the heart of it is his lifelong affection for Americana and classic rock.

With a few words on “Run Away (For Now),” Collins states:

“I am more excited about this single off my upcoming EP almost more than the rest. The band’s performance and songwriting felt completely in the zone while recording this song and I feel we really captured what it’s like to see us live. Plus, I finally got saxophone on one of my songs! It took way too long. I really hope you enjoy it!”

As he takes a step back to consider his current musical output, Collins is proud of what he sees. For this, his ninth proper release, he decided to incorporate his live touring band into the songwriting process. The band joined Collins in studio, and they belted out a bunch of new songs in just three days. Collins is proud of the musical evolution they have demonstrated, where the process has never felt freer.

Take the saxophone that he mentions above in “Run Away (For Now).” It may not seem like much, but it’s a small instance of a larger-sized musical mentality where it now feels more ok to try different things. At the end of the day, Collins just wants to be a songwriter and he’s happy to have the opportunity to grow and develop with a group of musicians he feels only make him better.
