Pink Siifu announces his fourth solo album, BLACK’!ANTIQUE, out January 27th via Dynamite Hill, in partnership with Roc Nation Distribution. Off the back of an exciting collaborative project run including Leather Blvd as B. Cool-Aid, the electric It’s Too Quiet..’!! With Cincinnati’s rising star Turich Benjy and Real Bad Flights with Real Bad Man.
Siifu, who is infamous for defying genre characteristics, surprises us yet again with the second single from his forthcoming project. Titled “WHOUWITHHO+,” produced by Kal Banx, the TDE-affiliated producer provides a grimy trap backdrop for Siifu to slide on. The sonics on this track and the single prior (SCREW4LIFE’! RIPJALEN’!) are reminiscent of those explored on It’s Too Quiet..’!! Yet more introspective and with a tad less energy.
“This album was made with the intent to sharpen and truly show that an artist should be one of one,” Siifu says of his intention behind creating BLACK’!ANTIQUE. “This album is the shit eye say to myself in the mirror. We get each album/project to tell a different side of ourselves, bring you into a world, speak on our existence and express ourselves in depth. Everything present and in front of you isn’t here to stay, but the memory and the stories will forever be something. That’s an Antique’! Something or Someone Who is Here to Stay’! A Source of Inspiration, Power and Something Timeless’!”
Anybody following Pink Siifu in recent years knows he is constantly evolving his sound and pushing boundaries. The aesthetic of this project seems much darker and grungier than what we’ve seen before. In the meanwhile, I suggest diving into the WE GOT FOOD AT THE CRIB’! series via Bandcamp, where Siifu plays around with a vast range of styles throughout the four projects.
Check out “WHOUWITHHO+” (feat. Kal Banx) above and stay tuned for more details on BLACK’!ANTIQUE coming soon.
