Leanne Wilkins & the Weathered Release Poignant Single “Alt-Reality”
Seattle-based band Leanne Wilkins and the Weathered deliver a powerful call for unity and compassion with their latest single, “Alt-Reality.”
Seattle-based band Leanne Wilkins & the Weathered have unveiled their latest single, “Alt-Reality,” a stirring and introspective anthem inspired by America’s deepening ideological divides as the 2024 election approaches. The song, rooted in personal experience, was penned by lead singer Leanne Wilkins as a call for compassion and unity in an increasingly fractured society.
Combining the soulful essence of 1970s rock with contemporary relevance, “Alt-Reality” features Wilkins’ evocative vocals and reflective lyrics layered over rich Wurlitzer keys and dynamic synth arrangements. The track builds to an emotional crescendo with its haunting refrain, “All we have is love,” underscored by lush harmonies and guest musician Charlie Smith’s mesmerizing synth lines.
“Alt-Reality” is the fourth single from the band’s highly anticipated 2025 album, The Art of Letting Go, following the release of “Light in the Darkness,” “Another Life,” and “Free Spirit.” Produced in Seattle at the iconic Avast and Nels Motel studios, the track was recorded and mixed by Robb Davidson and mastered by Rachel Field at Resonant Mastering.
Reflecting on the inspiration behind the song, “Alt-Reality” invites listeners to reflect on our shared humanity, encouraging understanding and empathy over division. Inspired by her experiences as a mother and the collective challenges faced by society, Leanne and The Weathered aim to inspire individuals to bridge divides and cultivate compassion within their communities.
The Art of Letting Go: A Journey Through Grief and Renewal
The single is part of the band’s forthcoming full-length album, The Art of Letting Go, a deeply personal exploration of grief, motherhood, and resilience. Written during the pandemic, the album delves into themes of loss and rebirth, blending classic rock influences with blues and soul to create a sound both timeless and innovative.
Featuring contributions from notable Seattle musicians and heartfelt arrangements, the album marks a creative evolution for the band, pushing boundaries with its introspective storytelling and experimental use of keys.
Since 1998, Leanne Wilkins has captivated audiences with her emotive storytelling and melodic depth. Her current project, Leanne Wilkins & the Weathered, blends roots rock, blues, and soul, offering a sound that resonates on both personal and universal levels.
With The Art of Letting Go, Wilkins and her band aim to connect listeners with themes of healing and self-acceptance, creating a powerful soundtrack for navigating an era marked by division and uncertainty.
“Alt-Reality” is now streaming on all major platforms, as Leanne Wilkins & the Weathered prepare to bring their message of unity and hope to audiences in Seattle and beyond.
