Scot rockers GUN leave fans at Leeds Brudenell Social club sweaty and all fired up on a Tuesday night. Read the review here…
It might be a school night but the Brudenell Social Club is heaving with rock fans of all ages ready for a dose of Scottish hard rock from GUN and the band repay that with a set that turns both the band and the crowd into a sweaty mess by the time “Shame On You” brings it to an end.
Before that though, fans are treated to over an hour of greasy rock ‘n’ roll riffs, stand-up comedy banter from frontman Dante Gizzi and a set that spans their career right back to debut album, Swagger, and through to 2024’s cracking Hombres effort.
Kicking off the night with “Lucky Guy” from the aforementioned Hombres album, the Scottish quintet quickly hit their stride powering through “She Knows” and “Vicious Heart before a greasy, raucous “All Fired Up” saw the Scots kick it up a notch with one of their classics.
Further into the set and, taking a break from relentlessly harrassing their poor roadie, frontman Dante Gizzi turned his attention to Damaged the new Samuel L. Jackson movie of which the band have, according to Gizzi, a couple of interestingly-placed tracks including “Pride” from their Hombres album.
Midway through their set, the band blitz through their “Word Up” before hurtling to the finish line bringing their main set to a close with hit single “Steal Your Fire”. Returning for three more bangers, GUN retreat to their dressing room, soaked in sweat having made sure anyone within a mile radius of this venue fully aware of their appearance in Yorkshire.
