The first 1,000 units of Telepathic InstrumentsOrchid, an advanced chord-generating hardware synthesizer developed for songwriters, producers, and musicians to expand the possibilities of songwriting and musical exploration, will go on sale tomorrow (December 18th) for U.S. customers at 549 dollars via www.telepathicinstruments.com. Prior to the instrument’s wider release next year, these first owners will have the chance to shape and refine it as part of The Garden—an online community in partnership with media and community platform Patreon. Orchid, Telepathic Instruments’ debut product, will begin shipping in February.

The sale, going live at 5 pm PT/8 pm ET, will require a password, which will be made available exclusively on the Telepathic Instruments Patreon channel drop page: http://www.patreon.com/telepathicinstruments/drops. The system has been implemented to mitigate security risks, manage the demand and ensure fairness of the sale. Telepathic Instruments had over 50k waitlist sign-ups after dropping their launch video a few weeks ago, and the company anticipates that the first 1,000, a beta release, will sell out very quickly. Interested parties are encouraged to visit the Orchid Patreon page for further instructions.

States the Telepathic team:

“Our first 1,000 Orchids come ready to play. The hardware is fully developed and the software is fully functional. There will be certain aspects of the software that need perfecting and some features to be expanded upon. That’s why we’re starting with 1,000 – to hear how they’re played, get feedback and improve the product in real time. Software updates will happen as an ongoing process and are very easy to do on Orchid.”

Originally conceived by Kevin Parker (Tame Impala) over ten years ago, Orchid is the first product developed by Telepathic Instruments, a company co-founded by Parker and friends. The instrument works by employing a unique chord logic system, combined with a multitude of ways to shape and alter the chords to maximize creative musical expression. All this is brought into sonic existence by a lush and powerful 16-voice polyphonic synth engine with onboard ambience and modulation FX, plus a separate bass synth engine solely for bottom end.
