Durango-based band Elder Grown unveiled their latest single, “Red Light,” offering a poignant exploration of childhood memories, early relationships, and the formative moments that define their journey as artists.

Born from a keyboard melody created by band member Brandon Clark, “Red Light” sparked a wave of nostalgia in lyricist Paul Hoffman, who penned lyrics reflecting on pivotal experiences from his youth and the band’s evolution. The song’s first verse reminisces about college days, party houses, and the band’s beginnings, while the chorus, a symbolic “red light,” invites listeners to pause and reflect on life’s milestones. In the second verse, Hoffman delves into his childhood, making the track a heartfelt journey through life’s chapters.

Blending influences from Mac Miller, Anderson .Paak, and Atmosphere, “Red Light” merges Elder Grown’s hip-hop, funk, and soul roots with fresh, genre-defying sounds. Produced by Jay Greens and Sam Kelly, the single serves as a testament to the band’s musical evolution while honouring their origins.

The single is the second release from ‘Parachutes’, Elder Grown’s highly anticipated album that is set to drop on December 31, 2024.

Elder Grown is a band of brothers — literally and figuratively — dedicated to creating music rooted in community and connection. Known for their improvisational jams and instrument-swapping performances, the band blends rock, hip-hop, funk, and soul into a genre-bending sound.

Formed by the Hoffman brothers — Joshua, John, and Paul — Elder Grown’s journey began in the 1990s when the siblings were inspired by their father’s work as a singer-songwriter. The addition of saxophonist Sam Kelly, multi-instrumentalist Brandon Clark, and Paris-born guitarist Guillaume Metz has enriched their sound, making them a standout act in the indie music scene.

With three albums already under their belt, the band continues to push boundaries, inviting listeners to join their extended family on a rollercoaster of musical exploration. Their upcoming album, Parachutes, promises to deepen their legacy as they prepare to close 2024 with a celebration of life, growth, and shared memories.
