Daydream Library Series Ceases Physical Music Production
The Daydream Library Series has announced that it plans to appoint Reed Smidebush as New Artist Liaison effective January 1st, 2025
The Daydream Library Series, a division of Ecstatic Peace Library founded by Thurston Moore and Eva Prinz, is pleased to announce exciting company news today. A decision was reached by Daydream Library Series co-founder, President and CEO Eva Prinz, as stated at an end-of-the-year gathering, that the record label plans to appoint Reed Smidebush as New Artist Liaison effective January 1st, 2025. In this role, Reed will actively seek out and review submissions received by emerging artists.
Eva Prinz also stated the label will cease physical music production starting in 2025 to prioritize eco-friendly digital releases without plastics and has stated Smidebush will assist new artists in engaging with digital streaming platforms, informing them of the online content contributions, such as music videos, interactive play, and games.
Prinz also acknowledged that some of the label’s “artists are climate activists and no longer complicit knowing their art recorded to compact discs will sit in landfills taking centuries to decompose.” She encouraged the community to “collect vintage records, and make fewer plastics and new albums. There isn’t any more time to lose. All industries must get behind respecting precious resources of this planet.”
The label’s forthcoming digital releases in 2025 will include new tracks from Devon Ross, Thurston Moore Group, and The Fall’s Brix Smith.
