David Steinhart Premieres His “Did You Say The Words?” Lyric Video
Folk singer-songwriter David Steinhart premieres the music video for his new song “Did You Say The Words?” from his new album ‘Released.’
Even for the most creative of artists, the well often eventually runs dry, but that time has not come for David Steinhart. And at the rate he’s going, it may never come, judging by his latest single, “Did You Say The Words?” Today, we’re helping to premiere the song’s music/lyric video, with the song an ode to realizing and appreciating what you already have.
The song comes from Steinhart’s latest solo album, Released. This record comes as a special release for the singer-songwriter as it’s his formal return to solo work. Steinhart has spent a career doing things differently and not getting comfortable maintaining the same artistic routine. It has been about a decade since he released anything as a solo artist, with his focus having been on writing and recording with his folk trio, The Furious Seasons.
Discussing “Did You Say The Words?,” Steinhart comments:
“Channeling my inner crooner on this mid-tempo ballad about a guy who feels overshadowed and neglected by his more successful partner, only to realize in the end that he’s been acting like a chump and denying the person he loves life’s simple pleasures. Now the days are getting short/the nights are so much colder/I’ve started thinking that it’s me/that’s making things so hard/I know you miss the light/of the easy mornings/streaming through the trees/washing over the yard.”
Released will be formally “released” on January 10th. Featuring ten new songs, it’ll be well-suited to anyone who enjoys traditional and modern folk music. There’s also enough pop in Steinhart’s sound to please a variety of listeners and rather than strip things completely down, he has maintained a full band arrangement with these songs. It’s almost mind-boggling to consider, but Steinhart has released nearly 30 albums in his entire musical career.
He is still finding new ways to challenge himself and new sounds to experiment with. Five-time Grammy-winning producer Alfonso Rodenas was a great help with the recording process for Released, and he has helped Steinhart stay focused, relevant, and punching out some of his most impressive songs in years.
