Connor Lin Frost Premieres His New Solo Single, “Real Friends”

There are so many great things about music, and one that Connor Lin Frost has really learned to benefit from is the well of opportunity it provides. As a musician, you can be whatever you want to be. Lin Frost has decided that he wants to be a solo artist. A few years ago, we featured the premiere of Lin Frost’s band Dizzy Bats’ single “Alone” from their self-titled third studio album. Together since 2011, Dizzy Bats has been put on the back burner for now for Lin Frost to try something new with his self-titled debut album Connor Lin Frost.

With the album due out tomorrow, you get to hear the debut of his new single, “Real Friends.” The song is highly relatable as Lin Frost ponders who his real friends are, where they went, and why they went. Ultimately, he’s wondering if he’s the problem.

Elaborating on the song, Lin Frost states:

“This song comes as a result of taking a chance on myself, from moving to a new place where I knew very few people, to starting my own business during the pandemic, to self-producing my first song from my own bedroom (this song). Through all the isolation, discomfort, and adventure, I can’t help but reflect on my friendships, and cherish those who continue to support this journey.”

It took courage to go solo after fronting Dizzy Bats now since 2011. For roughly the last five years, Lin Frost has also acted as a songwriting teacher. It has been an enriching experience that has exposed him to so many different sounds and influences. Indirectly, his students helped convince him that it was time to begin a new journey, something that felt a little more risky and unpredictable.

“Real Friends” paints a picture of insecurity and self-doubt, which is an interesting subject matter considering Lin Frost’s situation. Doubt is natural and unsurprising when taking risks, but at the end of the day, Lin Frost is ready to take on new challenges and grow as both an individual and a musician.
