Calgaréal, a groundbreaking new Canadian cross-country ensemble, is thrilled to announce the release of their debut studio album, Vanishing Points. Spearheaded by French-born violinist Jeremy Gignoux, this innovative collective brings together musicians from two vibrant cultural hubs—Calgary, nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and Montréal, perched along the St. Lawrence River.

With Vanishing Points, Calgaréal charts a musical journey that blends traditional music, improvisation, and influences from around the world. Each piece on the album is a window into its composer’s personality and background, weaving together threads of French, Québécois, Chinese, Spanish, and Balkan music with elements of jazz, flamenco, and avant-garde exploration.

The compositions—many of which were born during the pandemic—delve into questions of identity and belonging, exploring how people from vastly different backgrounds communicate and create together. The result is a sonic adventure that moves seamlessly between folk dance parties, industrial-free improvisation, intimate jazz clubs, and fiery flamenco performances.

The 11-track album also features a series of captivating short duet dialogues, where Calgary-based musicians converse with their Montréal counterparts, creating intimate moments of cross-cultural collaboration.
