Ben Joyner Releases New Single “Audrey (Nice Name)”

Ben Joyner’s new single, “Audrey (Nice Name)”, offers a fresh take on the excitement and awkwardness of a budding crush. It’s the latest release from his upcoming debut EP, Got My Drums Back Vol. 1, and showcases his talent for storytelling through music.
The inspiration behind the song comes from a simple, memorable moment Joyner shared with his mom. After attending a Neil Young concert together, in his words, “I mentioned the name of a girl I’d met to which she replied ‘that’s a nice name.’ Which I thought was funny. It was born out of this feeling of being really into someone and wanting to tell your family about them but also trying to play it cool and take things slow.”
Musically, “Audrey (Nice Name)” has a laid-back, subtly mesmerizing vibe, with Joyner’s raw, honest vocals at the forefront. The accompanying harmonica work gives the track a warm, almost nostalgic character, bringing a bit of soul to the mix. The song is incredibly honest in its delivery, as if Joyner is speaking directly to the listener.
For Joyner, who started writing music during the Covid-19 lockdowns after years of focusing on filmmaking, “Audrey (Nice Name)” is a glimpse into a promising musical direction. It’s a simple, introspective track that captures the charm of those early moments of getting to know someone.
