Alpha Rabbit Premieres Their “Temperatures” Music Video

Alternative outfit Alpha Rabbit is difficult to pigeonhole sound-wise, ranging from ’60s psychedelic to ’90s alternative to punk-flavored indie-rock. Their new music video, “Temperatures,” a piano-driven ballad with whiffs of The Ronettes reflects their exploration of genres and leitmotifs.

According to Dim, who plays guitar and sings on the track, “It represents a culmination of how we’ve each grown individually and collectively as a band. Also, this song is a treat to play live.”

Lifted from Alpha Rabbit’s recently released second album, Let It Grow, “Temperatures” assures listeners that emotional vulnerability is all right – the inclination to want more intimacy from someone while at the same time pushing them away is common.

Alpha Rabbit got together in 2016 in central New Jersey and is made up of Jake Foy, Joe “Dim” Wolstenholme, and Jaime Parker, who take turns transitioning between bass, drums, guitar, and keyboards.

Jaime Parker, who sings lead vocals and plays bass on the song, explains, “‘Temperatures’ was a long time coming. When we first got together as a band in 2016, I had fragments of it written. We needed to gel as a band before we were able to pull the composition of this song off.”

Jake Foy, who plays drums and piano on the track, adds, “As our various writing styles started to come together, the song started to take the shape of The Ronettes in outer space.”

“Temperatures” rolls out on a roving Springsteen-like melody that slowly builds as the voices of Parker and Dim narrate passionate feelings of desire, an appeal for closeness and human connection. The emotional tension of the song takes on urgency and explodes, followed by descending to a tender, evocative outro.

Talking about the video, Parker says, “I’ve always been fascinated by space. We were thrilled when Tony and Sarah from DIWhy? shared their idea for this video. It was so much fun to film.”

Initially low-slung and hauntingly expressive, “Temperatures” rises to a big sonic gesture, revealing aspects of the need for love.
