The grand finale has arrived, and We Are Wolves is making it as memorable as it possibly could be. Today, we reveal the new single “Seul au cinéma” from the band’s final album, NADA, which drops tomorrow. Treat this as a preview of tomorrow, a synth/psych-rock menagerie of electronics and effects. It’s just one of several standout tracks on the album, and it features a very special guest in Oliver Ackermann of A Place To Bury Strangers.

Ackermann lends his distinctive guitar talents to the song, easily identifiable to any listener of his near-legendary New York City-based noise rock band. Ackermann’s influence is quite apparent through his unconventional guitar sound and his heavy use of effects pedals.

According to the band, the song:

“…Was born from an improvisation we recorded between two songs at the Death By Audio studio in New York with Oliver Ackermann. The unique atmosphere, slightly dark yet romantic, combined with the rich, somewhat lo-fi texture, makes this song one of our favourites on the album.”

We’ve been longtime fans of We Are Wolves and previously premiered “Attention” and “Súper Normal,” both off of NADA. A very pure presentation of the essence of the duoAlexander Ortiz and Vincent Levesque produced the record themselves. Ackermann was also involved in the recording process as the pair recorded parts of it in his Death By Audio studio. The sound of the record is unique for a reason, as craftsmanship was one of the album’s central focuses. Producer Odin Parada also lent a hand to Ortiz and Levesque at his studio in Mexico.

We Are Wolves characterize NADA as a record they have been trying to achieve for decades. They’ve described it as a mixtape of lyrical themes of confusion and alienation with masterful pop artistry. You might think of it as dystopian dance-rock meant to help ring in the end of the world. All we can say is, what a way to go out.
