The Anix Premieres His Enveloping and High ‘VOLTAGE’ Single “Disarm”
The songwriting project of musician Brandon Smith, The Anix has premiered his new single “Disarm” from his new FiXT Music album ‘VOLTAGE.’
Much easier said than done, The Anix is a master in creating atmosphere through soundscapes. If you’re a previous listener of his, you’ll know what we mean. But if you’re just discovering him via his new single “Disarm,” it won’t take you long to realize what we are getting at.
The recording project of musician Brandon Smith, we have featured the music of The Anix multiple times. “Disarm” is an electric fusion of alternative and electronic rock, underscoring the intensity of each subgenre. The lyrics complement the musical intensity, a song focused on isolation and the desperation that accompanies it.
Like all of Smith’s recordings as The Anix, the song envelopes you, evoking the sensation of wandering through a desert in the dark. It’s aggressive but moody and desirous.
Discussing his intentions, Smith states:
“With ‘Disarm,’ I wanted to capture the feeling of being lost in a downward mental state, that struggle where you’re fighting for air but feel your weight pulling you down. The song has a massive sound that plays like a wave with huge highs, and extreme lows, and lyrics reflect that push and pull, navigating through the rust of life to find something alive. It’s about confronting the depths and the desperation, and finding a release in the chaos.”
“Disarm” is the new single from The Anix’s new album VOLTAGE, due for release November 22nd via FiXT Music. The themes evident within this song are explored more extensively throughout the record. The album is a dazzling meshing of electronica and rock, at times brooding and not afraid to investigate the darker sides of life. It’s a very versatile record, exploring different time periods and eras of modern rock and electronic music. There are more guitar-heavy moments like “Sinking Alone,” a nod to the grunge of the 90s. But then there are songs like “PANIC” that blend synths with more traditional alternative rock elements.
As we said in our premiere of The Anix’s “Cut Me” single last year, Smith is a boundary pusher. He’s got a distinctive sound that will capture your attention for its uniqueness and its accessibility.
