‘Particules Sonores’ is the latest album from Montreal bassist Alain Bédard and his renowned AUGUSTE Quartet.
Sound waves and musical exploration meet in Particules Sonores, the latest album from Montreal bassist Alain Bédard and his renowned AUGUSTE Quartet. With a two-decade legacy and six acclaimed albums to their name, Bédard’s quartet continues to bring new energy to the Canadian jazz scene. The album, set to release on November 29th via Effendi Records, will feature compositions by each of the quartet members and celebrates Effendi’s 25th anniversary.
The AUGUSTE Quartet, comprised of Mario Allard on saxophones, Marie-Fatima Rudolf on piano, Alain Bédard on double bass, and Michel Lambert on drums, delivers an album that blends vibrant, original compositions with a refined jazz sensibility. Particules Sonores invites listeners to experience sound as a particle that radiates through each note and beat, celebrating music’s ability to travel across borders and connect deeply with audiences worldwide.
A powerful pillar of Canada’s jazz heritage, the AUGUSTE Quartet’s artistry has resonated globally, with performances across every continent and a dedicated following at home. This latest release is a landmark for Effendi Records, which Bédard founded to showcase Canadian jazz talent and has since become one of the country’s leading jazz labels.
The album’s standout tracks include Bédard’s “Profumo Chaneleone,” a tribute to a friend’s beloved perfume, and Rudolf’s “Terrain Neutre,” a heartfelt piece envisioning a more empathetic world. Lambert’s “A Goose Story” adds a narrative flair, sketching the tale of a mysterious character mid-heist, while the quartet’s cohesive sound captures both the intricacy and freedom of contemporary jazz.
