Vancouver’s Commodore Ballroom hosted Animals As Leaders and their “The Joy Of Motion X” tour. For the 10th anniversary of their highly proclaimed fan favourite, The Joy Of Motion album, the instrumental metal band embarked on a tour all over the USA and Canada to delight their fans with the companion of Australian guitarist PLINI.

PLINI started the night with “The Red Fox” from his 2023 EP Mirage and followed with “Cascade,” an older jam from 2016. He stopped to chat with the crowd, cracking a few jokes, introducing the band members, and mentioning how grateful they were to be in Vancouver, where they were opening for one of their favourite bands.

They performed eight songs, travelling through his discography, making the crowd silently bang their heads and enjoying the tunes.

It was the time of the main event, and Animals As Leaders, the trio comprising Tosin Abasi, Javier Reyes, and Matt Garstka, started navigating through their compositions with “Kascade” and “Lippincott,” the latter being played on tour for the first time since 2016.

As the tour is mainly to celebrate their The Joy Of Motion album, they performed the 12 songs almost in the same order, closing with “Nephele.

They thought that playing an entire album was going to be enough for the Vancouver crowd. Still, they delivered a four-song encore to the deserving crowd, performing “The Brain Dance,” “Inner Assassins,” “Red Miso,” and “Monomyth.
