Wicked Lights Premiere Cinematic Video for Single “Grasping At Straws”
Thailand’s Wicked Lights releases the video for “Grasping At Straws,” a brooding, introspective indie rock anthem framed by a lush cinematic soundscape.
Wicked Lights (find ’em on socials here) is the musical project and brainchild of Two Charuson. He has worked for three decades to hone his craft, learning a variety of instruments along the way in order to create his songs. Born in Thailand, he was schooled privately in the British countryside where he found solace in picking a guitar and idolising Eric Clapton, Prince, Jeff Tweedy, Neil Young, Elliott Smith and Joy Division.
The music of Wicked Lights has evolved from these experiences and touches on themes of disillusionment, joy, love, sadness, courage and playfulness. Playing most of the instruments himself, he has been able to create a unique and wholly personal response to these conflicts, creating in the process a musical style unlike anything else in the Asian landscape.
Wicked Lights are now ready to drop their brand new single, “Grasping At Straws,” a brooding, introspective indie rock anthem framed by a lush cinematic soundscape.
Of the single, Wicked Lights says:
“A song about getting caught up in the game, which the protagonist realises isn’t the right path forward. Sometimes it’s necessary in order to do something. We have to take the long way round. With urgency and often feels we’re desperate to do whatever it takes. We get pummelled or thrown into the mud and to crawl out of the mud. We realise failure is only a part of it.”
Wicked Lights continues:
“There are also positives in the bad times we face. There is always a light at the end of a long tunnel. We take it all in our stride and we should pay no mind. We carry on, with a sense of poise and a little humour. At the end of the day, it’s only pheromones. Shit you simply cannot control most of the time.”
Released as a standalone single, “Grasping At Straws” adds itself to a long list of release which, since 2018 until now, has seen Two, alongside long time friend and producer, Montonn Jira, has write, record, and complete five more records. One being the 4 track EP, Have A Nice Dream, released last year with three full length LP’s and a six-track Thai language EP, Astronauts yet to be released.
