The Struts Put on an Explosive End to the Weekend at London’s Roundhouse [Photos]
The Struts and Barns Courtney bring the weekend to an explosive end at the London Roundhouse. Check out the photos here…
It’s Sunday night in Camden, we’re hours away from another week of work/school/whatever but Derbyshire rock n’ roll whirlwind The Struts are here to make sure that the weekend doesn’t end in a whimper.
With the energy of an old-school rock n’roller, Aylesbury-born singer-songwriter Barns Courtney is here to light the fuse on this firecracker of a night. Dressed up like he’s ready to party, the connection Courtney has with the crowd is exactly what is needed for this double-headliner with the likes of “London Girls,” and the couldn’t be more appropriate if it tried opener “Fun Never Ends” cranking up the energy in the room ready for the Derbyshire headliners.
With the atmosphere in the room crackling, The Struts had no problem whipping up a crowd all ready to party. Dressed up to the nines, the rockers hit the stage with “Primadonna Like Me,” “Fallin’ With Me,” and “Body Talks,” as the temperature in this iconic London venue was dialled up a notch or two. It might have been fairly miserable outside but inside, The Struts were here to party.
Owning the stage from the moment they hit it, The Struts are pretty much the complete package. They look sharp, they sound even sharper and, as they hit their stride early on, they showed how to rock an audience in a way that should be a blueprint for all aspiring rock stars. This is all captured perfectly in frontman Luke Spiller who has taken the looks, the voice, and the attitude from all the greats and rolled it into one person.
By the time the band left the stage following “Could Have Been Me,” they’d made sure that those Monday morning Zoom calls would be met with bleary eyes and ringing ears. Just how every rock n’ roll gig should leave you feeling.
V13 sent Harry Wassell along to the show, and you can check out his gallery and The Struts setlist here.
