Mia McIntosh – “Sunday Morning” [Song Review]
Highlighted by the flawless, honeyed voice of Mia McIntosh, “Sunday Morning” bares the intimate emotions of love’s relentless yearning.
“Sunday Morning,” the just-released single from singer-songwriter and producer Mia McIntosh, is the first of a new batch of music from McIntosh. “Sunday Morning” will be followed by “Cheating,” slated for release later this month. Both tracks will be featured on her upcoming EP, released in early 2025.
According to McIntosh, “‘Sunday Morning’ is one of my most personal pieces yet, and I’m excited to finally be able to share it with you as part of the upcoming EP!”
Last year, McIntosh dropped her single, “Stoplights,” produced by Tommy Ordway and mastered by Justin Pizzoferrato. Since then, she has appeared on Voice of America’s Border Crossing, talking about her influences and creative process, as well as performing live. In May, she sat down with Almost Famous Magazine to chat about the arc of her career.
At the present juncture, McIntosh is attending Berklee College of Music, where she began a year-long study abroad program at Berklee’s campus in Valencia, Spain.
“Sunday Morning” opens on muted, sparkling tones, followed by the entry of McIntosh’s gentle, crystalline vocals, evoking haunting, quixotic flavors dipped in wistful surfaces. Tinted with shadows of melancholy atop a soft rhythmic flow, the melody and lyrics reveal the ache and passion of longing.
