Lounna Premieres Music Video for “Under the Same Stars” (ft. Reliable Child)

City life and country life each have their positives and negatives, but singer-songwriter Lounna would prefer to focus on what brings us together rather than what divides us apart. Today, she reveals the music video accompaniment to her new single “Under the Same Stars.” The song features a special guest appearance from indie folk artist Reliable Child.

The touching track features each artist trading and sharing vocals, perfectly complementing each other. It has a very traditional singer-songwriter vibe reminiscent of traditional country vocal groups. Highly melodic, Lounna, and Reliable Child demonstrate a real understanding of each other’s vocal strengths and impressively play off of each other.

Discussing how she met Reliable Child and how the collaboration took place, Lounna says:

“New and shy in the Pittsburgh music scene, I remember finding other local musicians on social media and admiring them from afar behind the safety of my phone screen. Through a local gig, I had the privilege of meeting Mike (Reliable Child) in person after connecting via Instagram for a while. Being an indie folk singer-songwriter in a small town that is primarily focused on rock and cover bands, I was grateful to meet someone of a similar musical mind, who also coincidentally works with the same audio engineer and producer as me (Daniel Blake).

“You can imagine that I was even more so grateful when Mike agreed to co-write a song for my sophomore record. We wrote the song together completely virtually, which perhaps somehow ended up lending concept inspiration for the music video. We produced the song together with Daniel Blake in April 2023 with the intention of a ‘summertime front porch’ vibe.”

Describing how the song connects with the music video, Lounna goes on to say:

“I had a year to ponder a deeper meaning in the way the song connects with humanity. I carefully crafted the script for the music video, beautifully captured by Krystal Ritenour Media. The video compares a slower, country life to a fast-paced, monotonous city life in parallel, but ends in a symbolic way that shows that everyone, regardless of their lifestyle, has connections to each other that are missed if you don’t look for them. It’s actually a beautiful thought that at the end of everybody’s day, we all stand under the same sky. (Fun Fact: an earlier, rough draft of ‘Under the Same Stars’ was actually written on my own several years ago after reading the Matched Trilogy by Ally Condie.).”

Lounna is looking forward to the present and the future. The Pittsburgh-based singer-songwriter is entering an important phase of her career with her sophomore record, Garden For Winter, on the horizon. Selfless in her approach, she actually postponed the release of the album this past January when she announced that her husband was diagnosed with Burkill Lymphoma. Now that he has completed his treatments, it’s enabled Lounna to refocus on her songwriting. Due to be released on January 31st, the songs will focus on dealing with mental health issues, difficult life circumstances, and the lessons learned that come from these predicaments. There is light at the end of the tunnel, and Lounna would like you to keep that in mind.
