Kylie V Rings in the “Year of the Rabbit” with Her Latest Single [Premiere]
Indie folk artist Kylie V has seen a lot for a 20-year-old, and they’d like to share some of it with you with the premiere of“Year of the Rabbit.”
It’s an unfortunate natural inclination to dismiss young people, but as Kylie V demonstrates, you should never judge a book by its cover. At only 20 years of age, Kylie has experienced so much and turned so much of it into inspiration. Today marks the debut of their new single, “Year of the Rabbit.” It’s from Kylie’s upcoming album Crash Test Plane, due November 15th via Royal Mountain Records.
The song has a contemplative tone, reflective and, in some respects, solemn. Kylie is an introspective person, and it bleeds through into their songwriting. Their music is a combination of indie folk and pop, with a significant element of storytelling laced within.
Taking us into the inspirations behind their new single, Kylie states:
“‘Year of the Rabbit’ is a song I wrote while healing from a breakup and reflecting on my (incredible) friends/support system and my feelings after the fact. I was inspired a lot by Andy Shauf and Sufjan Stevens in the writing and production of this one and it means a lot to me. The track is produced by my great friend Josh Eastman and features us two on most of the instruments, with Jess Jones on drums, Gregory Dent on trumpet, and a handful of friends singing on the outro.”
When you’re 20, you probably have no grand plan. You are just feeling your way through things. But even at this young age, Kylie has enough life experience to feel a certain level of comfort and reassurance in their experiences. So much has come their way that, like many young people, they thought it was going to be some life-changing experience. Instead, the sun rose the next day, and nothing significant really took place.
Kylie has been writing songs since they were 14, so songwriting has been a valuable outlet for some time now. Their maturity is evident in the subject matter within Crash Test Plane. It’s an album about falling in love, but also about mental health and the focus on one’s own goals. When you’re 20, there are a lot of new experiences and even more learning experiences. Through it all, Kylie ensures to take it all in stride and maintain a positive view towards the future.
