Joel Jeschke Confirms Release of Debut Album ‘Time & Place’
Joel Jeschke will release his highly anticipated debut album as a composer and bandleader, ‘Time & Place,’ on November 22, 2024.

Joel Jeschke, a distinguished drummer in both the jazz and rock circuits of Edmonton, Alberta, will release his highly anticipated debut album as a composer and bandleader, Time & Place. Known for his dynamic work with rock bands such as Royal Tusk (MNRK Records) and Whale and the Wolf, as well as jazz collaborations with artists like Aretha Tillotson, the Stephanie Urquhart Quartet, and Brett Hansen, Jeschke now unveils his unique musical voice through original compositions on this exciting new record.
Time & Place will be available worldwide on November 22, 2024.
Time & Place features a lineup of exceptional musicians, including Holly Sangster on saxophone, Brett Hansen on guitar, Brendan McGrath on piano, Aretha Tillotson on bass, and Jeschke himself on drums and compositions. This album navigates the delicate balance of contrasting emotions and styles, where complex, asymmetrical time signatures are softened by a subtle yet compelling pulse and dissonant harmonies are countered by hauntingly introspective melodies. Tracks like “The Number Twelve” showcase a wild, chaotic energy, while pieces such as “Song For When It Rains” offer a reflective calmness, allowing the music to oscillate naturally between opposing moods.
Jeschke’s extensive experience across genres—including metal, jazz, and musical theatre—lends a rich depth and versatility to his musical expression on Time & Place. This debut album is not only a study in contrast but also a testament to bold experimentation and innovation in modern Canadian jazz, presenting an immersive listening experience from a promising new voice in the genre.
