Ilya Osachuk Announces His Debut Album ‘The Answer’

Jazz bassist Ilya Osachuk is set to release his highly anticipated debut album, The Answer, on November 1st, 2024. As one of the rising stars in the North American jazz scene, Osachuk’s first project as a bandleader presents a stunning showcase of his multifaceted talents as a performer, composer, arranger, and producer.

The album explores a blend of personal experiences, cultural heritage, and classic jazz traditions. Osachuk draws inspiration from his Ukrainian roots in the composition “Lviv Perspective” while reflecting on personal growth and introspection through tracks like “February” and “The Answer.” His innovative arrangements honour legendary jazz figures such as Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, and Ray Brown.

The Answer features two distinguished piano trios assembled by Osachuk. One group includes emerging talents Tyler Henderson on piano and Kai Craig on drums, and the other showcases jazz masters Donald Vega on piano and Billy Drummond on drums. Both ensembles capture the raw spontaneity of jazz, demonstrating Osachuk’s ability to maintain tradition while carving a unique path forward.
