Becky G kicked off her second headlining tour, “Casa Gomez: Otro Capítulo Tour,” at the Everwise Amphitheater at White River State Park on Sunday, October 13th, 2024. The tour setlist was a mix of fan favorites and songs from her albums Encuentros and Esquinas, paying homage to her Mexican heritage. The Latin pop and reggaeton star delivered a sensational show, showcasing her powerful vocals, rapping, and dancing.
The third stop of the tour in Indianapolis faced a slight delay. The entrance to the bowl area opened late, with fans rushing in just after 8:00 pm—30 minutes after the supporting act’s slated start time. Freddy Quintana, a DJ performing under the stage name Awsumo, opened with a mix of Latin, hip-hop, and rock tracks, hyping the crowd for the main show. Awsumo, Becky’s cousin, is a key part of her tour, as mentioned in her USA Today interview.
Despite the delays, the crowd enjoyed their time while dancing to the DJ’s music. At 9:40 pm, the stage’s white cover was lifted, revealing a sleek, minimalist setup centered around a large cube that served as both a platform and a closed-off space with a door. The backup dancers posed, building anticipation. Then, the doors opened, and Becky G emerged, singing her sensual single “Mala Santa” to a packed crowd. Dressed in a sparkly white two-piece paired with knee-high boots, her entrance was well worth the wait.
The energy escalated when the 27-year-old danced and sang to her reggaeton hit “Fulanito,” swaying her hips to the rhythm. Fans couldn’t resist dancing to the fast-paced blend of merengue, hip-hop, and R&B in “Arranca” that followed. There was no denying that Becky’s stage presence was magnetic. She glided across the platform with her backup dancers, creating a colorful and exciting spectacle.
As the stage turned dark blue, Becky transitioned to slower songs, performing singles from her regional Mexican album, Esquinas, accompanied by a live band. She became emotional during “Querido Abuelo,” a Grammy-nominated song dedicated to her late grandfather. Through teary eyes, the Mexican-American singer told the audience that it never gets easier to perform. Subsequently, she showcased her powerful range during “Cries in Spanish,” a heartbreak song in collaboration with Dannylux, effortlessly hitting high notes with sincerity.
A particularly heartwarming moment came when “Dolores” played, a song inspired by Becky’s immigrant grandmother. She invited a young fan on stage and asked the audience to light up the venue with their phone flashlights, creating a sea of twinkling lights. The multi-platinum singer and songwriter is no stranger to helping others, as she has partnered with the Save the Music Foundation (STM) on her 2024 tour. Giving back to fans and the community is essential to Becky G’s identity, an artist who will inspire and uplift generations to come.
After this touching segment, she performed a vibrant vocal and dance cover of “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” paying tribute to the beloved “Queen of Cumbia,” Selena Quintanilla. This isn’t the first time the singer recognized Selena’s timeless legacy. Last year, she sang covers of iconic Selena Quintanilla hits on her “Mi Casa, Tu Casa” tour and Coachella performance. Following a brief intermission with DJ Awsumo taking on the stage again, she launched into her 2013 debut solo single, “Becky From the Block,” showing off her rapping skills and never missing a beat.
As the show neared its end, Becky delighted fans with chart-topping hits like the upbeat “Mayores”, the sultry and empowering “Sin Pijama”, and her highest-charting song, “MAMIII” peaking at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Becky G closed the night with her 2014 mainstream hit “Shower,” dancing alongside her team. The career-spanning performance was vibrant and heartfelt, resonating with both longtime and new fans. Not only did the concert highlight her versatility and bicultural appeal, it served as a love letter to her Mexican roots, making it a memorable chapter in her artistic journey.
