Am I Not Premieres Latest Single “Let’s Just Kill My Friends”
One-man band Am I Not premieres the new single “Let’s Just Kill My Friends” from their upcoming album ‘Climaxes and Vacuity.’
By the sounds of it, you’d never know that Am I Not is a one-man band. But when that one man is Ian Debeerst, then the talent and capabilities are in full supply.
Debeerst is a DIY type of musician, an artist who is used to finding his own way. He’s working in his element when he’s overseeing it all, and today is your first taste of what Debeerst has been cooking up.
Today marks the premiere of the new Am I Not single “Let’s Just Kill My Friends.” Layered, affecting, and climactic, the song is a sign of things to come.
Commenting on the single, Debeerst says:
“I’m happy to unveil ‘Let’s Just Kill My Friends,’ which is a song I’m very proud of. I imagine it as a colourful journey that will take you from the dancefloor to a very dark place.”
Along with the premiere of the song, Debeerst is proud to announce the release of the latest Am I Not album, Climaxes and Vacuity. Set for release on November 29th, “Let’s Just Kill My Friends” is very representative of the album at large. The album will be composed of nine avant-garde dark metal tracks featuring many influences. From hardcore to death metal, this album will be pleasing to any fan of hard rock or metal music.
Discussing the recording of Climaxes and Vacuity, Debeerst tells us:
“What I can say is that I produced the album myself, from the composition to the mastering. I played and recorded every instrument and vocals at home, during the 2020 lockdown. With a tendency to procrastinate and working with several other projects like Vain Valkyries (post-hardcore) and Sordide (black metal), I’m releasing the album this year after an important number of remixes.
“This record is the Seinfeld of records, it’s about nothing, hence the ‘Vacuity.’ Yet, it is filled with colourful moments going from pure raging blast-beasts to ethereal melodies, hence the climaxes.”
As Debeerst references, he’s been in this game for some time as a member of Sordide and Vain Valkyries. Climaxes and Vacuity has been a long time in the works, with the first Am I Not EP, Apparent Void, being released back in 2017. But now Debeerst is determined to make up for lost time with a gripping and absorbing new album.
Climaxes and Vacuity Track Listing:

3. Hate For The Eight
