Alice Cooper Delivers Timeless Shock Rock Masterclass at Leeds First Direct Arena [Photos]
Rock legend Alice Cooper delivers a timeless shock rock masterclass at Leeds First Direct Arena. Check out the photos here…
When shock rock veteran Alice Cooper rolls into town, you know there will be one hell of a show, and yet again, Vincent Damon Furnier’s alter-ago does not disappoint. Yes, you can look back as far as you can remember and still confidently state that nothing has changed, but after forty, fifty, sixty years in the game, why would you want them to?
Part circus, part B-Movie horror script, part rock n’ roll show, all rolled into one fun-packed, shock-rocking ninety minutes, Alice Cooper gives his fans what they want, as not one fan leaves on this Friday night in Leeds feeling anything other than utterly satisfied. You see, Alice Cooper might not change things up, but when it comes to high entertainment shock rock, nobody provides their fans with bigger value for money than this man.
Bursting onto the stage through a set of curtains brandishing a cutlass, the first thing you notice about the performance is how utterly ageless the rock legend is. Whether he is strutting about the stage in a top hat, swinging a cane, or brandishing a huge boa constrictor, the Alice Cooper concert experience is as much about the show as it is about the music. Make no mistake, though, that his bandmates are no bit part players in this show. Nita Strauss is just badass, while Tommy Henriksen, Ryan Roxie, Chuck Garric, and Glen Sobel, all longtime members of Alice’s band, fit seamlessly into the show.
That being said, for all the shock rock showbiz glitz, Alice backs it up with a set list that has something for everyone. From oldies like “I’m Eighteen,” “Billion Dollar Babies,” and “Elected,” to more modern-day classics like “Poison,” “Lost In America,” and “Bed of Nails,” the music proves itself to be as timeless as the man himself.
The ninety-minute rock show comes to an anthemic finale with the legendary “Schools Out,” which, let’s face it, is the only way for Alice to end a show. In his track “I’m Alice,” the man sings, “I know what you want. I know what you need.” and, tonight, he delivered exactly what these legions of fans wanted and needed.
