We Are Wolves Call for Your “Attention” with Their Video Premiere
We Are Wolves premiere their dancey new single “Attention” from their their upcoming new Simone Records album ‘NADA.’
With the fall right upon us, we are creeping closer to the new We Are Wolves album. As discussed in our premiere of the band’s last single, “Súper Normal,” the new Wolves album is set to be their last. Today, we get another taste of this final achievement with the premiere of the duo’s latest single, “Attention.” This is yet another indication of this being their most eclectic set of songs yet. The album will be called NADA, and it will be released on November 8th via Simone Records.
“Attention” is wholly original and familiar to fans of the Montreal pair. It sounds nothing like anything they have ever recorded before. But that’s to be expected at this point with their eclectic combination of different sounds and genres. There really is nothing like it.
Discussing the recording of the album, the band states:
“NADA was recorded in multiple locations, including Death By Audio NYC and during some time spent in Mexico. The idea of recording in different environments was to let ourselves be absorbed by the vibe of the city, the landscape, the people, and the food. The vegetation versus the concrete also played a huge role in shaping the songs. But in a weird way, they could be totally interchangeable.”
NADA will be the first set of new songs from Alexander Ortiz and Vincent Levesque as We Are Wolves since 2019’s La Main de Dieu. To properly go out the way they wanted to, they decided to produce NADA entirely themselves. There are various contributors who helped, like A Place To Bury Strangers and Death By Audio’s Oliver Ackermann and SUUNS’ Joseph Yarmush. But this was mostly a tag team effort between Ortiz and Levesque.
NADA has been at various stages of development for a few years now. It tackles many of today’s hot-button issues, including the social unrest we live within, information overload, environmental cataclysm, and the dissatisfaction with war. Ortiz and Levesque wanted to make this as special of a release as possible. So they put together some of their sharpest songs yet, but also some of their noisiest and most eclectic.
Lyrically, NADA will discuss confusion and alienation, both topical issues considering the unusual times we live in. From synth rock to garage rock to post-punk to tropical psych to ’90s alternative rock, We Are Wolves has authored a stirring and inspiring final chapter to their story.
