It’s been a busy couple of months for Australian pop-punk heroes Stand Atlantic. August saw the release of their long-awaited Was Here, while earlier this month, the band kicked off what will probably be an intense live schedule for the album with a run of dates in their home country. By this point, Was Here had rocketed to the top tier of the Australian charts, and the pop-punk band was heading to the UK with their profile higher than ever.

The second date on this slew of UK dates saw the band roll into Manchester’s impressive New Century Hall. Joining the band on this trek around the UK are Los Angeles pop-rockers Honey Revenge and fellow Australian indie/pop-punk quartet Slowly Slowly. Openers Slowly Slowly are set to drop their new album next year, and despite this being their first time performing in the UK, their catchy, energetic pop-punk-laced indie will be bringing them a whole new fanbase ahead of the new album and hopefully a return visit to the UK.

The perfect appetizer for the headline course, the Los Angeles outfit Honey Revenge adds a splash of colour to proceedings, none more so than vocalist Devin Papadol. Having dropped their Retrovision debut last year, it comes as no surprise to find that their set list on this tour is culled mostly from the said album, with the likes of “Rerun” going a good way to set the energy levels for the rest of the night.

Not that the headliners needed any encouragement. Landing in the UK buzzing from their headline home tour, Stand Atlantic are riding high on the crest of a popularity explosion. Opening with “WAKE UP-SIT DOWN-SHUT UP” and “Hair out,” the Sydney pop-punk band have the crowd eating out of the palms of their hands right from the get-go. A set full of huge, Australian sun-kissed pop-punk bangers follows as Bonnie Fraser and the rest of the band power through anthems like “Hate Me [Sometimes]” and “Kissin’ Killer Cobras.”

Powering through a twenty-song set where the energy levels from both the band and their fans barely drop, the night closes with “Coffee at Midnight” and the Pvris/Bruses collab album cut “GIRL$,” with the band heading off stage with their plan to take over the world one venue at a time, gathering momentum with each day.
