SOFT VEIN Releases “GOD WHISPERS” from Sophomore Album ‘Through Blinds’
Soft Vein has released their new single “God Whispers” from their upcoming Artoffact Records album ‘Through Blinds.’
Electronic artist Soft Vein released their new single “GOD WHISPERS” from their second album, Through Blinds. The album is due out on January 17th via Artoffact Records and is now available for pre-order.
Both bleak and melancholic, Through Blinds marks an evolution since debut album, PRESSED IN GLASS. Pulling influences from both the new and the familiar, Soft Vein creates a unique blend of “nostalgic futurism.” From the haunting, darkly romantic atmospheres of tracks like “FALLING,” “THROUGH BLINDS,” and “WASTING DAYS,” to the industrial grit and tension of “GOD WHISPERS” and “BLACK BAG,” the album presents a duality that’s both beautiful and unsettling.
On the album’s themes and sound, Soft Vein’s Justin Chamberlain says:
“This album is more about me as an observer of others, and sometimes even feeling like an observer in my own life. I wrote in this very ‘detached narrator’ sort of way… a lot of yearning, watching, and waiting kind of stuff. That’s where the title came from. There are influences you’d probably expect like Depeche Mode or Clan of Xymox or Nitzer Ebb, but I was also heavily influenced by The Blue Nile and Genesis, and Prince. Film and video game scores too, especially Brad Fiedel’s work on the Terminator 2 soundtrack. I was revisiting a lot of things that are very nostalgic for me while making this record.”
The album owes its sleek and polished production to mixing/mastering engineer Ewan Alastair Kay (Kontravoid, Zanias). With a soundscape of dreamy guitars, metallic percussion and a collage of interwoven music textures, Through Blinds departs from the frigid sounds of its predecessor, for a warmer and dangerous auditory landscape.
Through Blinds will be streaming everywhere on January 17th, 2025 via Artoffact Records, with a physical release on CD and limited ‘translucent CRT-green vinyl.’
