Jeremy Facknitz Releases His New Single “The Promise”
Jeremy Facknitz has released his brand new single “The Promise,” a song that focuses on the hope that we may not realize we have.
Jeremy Facknitz is back with more new music. Today marks the release of his brand new single, “The Promise.”
It’s a ballad about how we have more hope than we might think. This is the third of eleven singles he will be releasing over the next year.
Discussing the song’s origins, Facknitz states:
“‘The Promise’ was inspired by a 5 am walk to the park to workout last summer. As I was heading east and looking at the morning sky, I thought, ‘The promise of a new day. At this moment, the promise is all you need.’
“I shelved it for a month due to other work and touring obligations and then dedicated two pretty intense weeks to the song in Carbondale, Colorado (where I also wrote ‘Love So Big’ and ‘Lay It On Me’), all the while staying far away from the guitar or piano. I composed the poem first, as lyrics have always been more of a challenge to me than melody and music. I wanted to make sure I was saying exactly what I wanted to say before I started hummin’ and strummin’.
“I’ve really only written one other song in this order (where I completely finished the lyrics before ever putting them to music), and that was ‘Michigan (Something In The Water),’ the third track off Smilin’ At The Future, which helped make me a Kerrville New Folk Finalist in 2022.
“‘The Promise’ is a lyrical triptych; three verses, three different vignettes to convey the message that while we may lose innocence in this life, we all still have hope, and it’s proven by the simple fact that we got up today. We haven’t quit. No matter how hard this life might be for some people, if you’re here, you must believe it can get better. And if that belief is the only thing keeping you going, well, then it’s working, isn’t it?”
