Freestyle Digital Media, the digital film distribution division of Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group, has acquired worldwide VOD rights to the award-winning supernatural horror-mystery feature film Children of the Pines (IMBD page here), which will be available to rent/own on all digital HD internet, cable, and satellite platforms globally, as well as on DVD, starting on October 18th, 2024. Children of the Pines recently won ‘Best Horror Feature’ at the International New York Film Festival and the ‘Audience Award’ at the Gasparilla International Film Festival.

Children of the Pines tells the story of a young college student, Riley, who, while visiting her estranged parents, learns they are partaking in supernatural healing for their family trauma. Riley’s mother, Kathy, alongside her husband, John, participates in a healing practice to mend their marriage and reconcile with their estranged daughter, Riley, over her college winter break. As Riley attempts to reconnect with her family, she becomes increasingly unsettled after being introduced to mysterious children now living in her childhood home.

Unknown to Riley, her high school ex-boyfriend, Gordon, resurfaces as a close family friend who also helps take care of the children living at the house. Glimpses into the past reveal unsettling truths, compelling Riley to confront the sinister reality of her family’s hidden plan for her to join them.

Written and directed by Joshua Morgan, Children of the Pines was produced by Lucas Ferrara, Daniel J. Bowman, Eric R. Polins, and Jenna Skeen. The featured cast includes Danielle J. Bowman (‘Kathy’), Sylvie Mohr (‘Young Riley’), Kelly Tappan (‘Riley’), Vivian Hunter (‘Young Kathy’), Ryosuke Sekoguchi (‘Young John’), Vas Provatakis (‘Gordon’), David Raizor (‘Leon’), Donna Rae Allen (‘Lorelei’), and Richard Cohn-Lee (‘John’).

Regarding the film, Joshua Morgan comments:

“Since starting this project at 17 years old, it’s been an amazing ride getting this feature developed and working alongside producers Lucas A. Ferrara and Danielle J. Bowman. Over the last four years our crew has unwaveringly given their all to make this movie possible. We are more than excited to get Children of the Pines in front of audiences to hopefully offer a refreshingly thoughtful, disturbing, and eerie thriller.”

Freestyle Digital Media negotiated the deal to acquire Children of the Pines directly with producer Lucas Ferrara.
