Reunited Gossip Dazzle Fans at Liverpool’s Historic Olympia Theatre [Photos]
A reunited Gossip dazzle loyal fans as they bring a party to Liverpool’s historic Olympia Theatre. Check out the coverage inside!
Some artists simply shine when they’re on stage, and then there is Beth Ditto, who takes that to a whole new level. Fronting the reunited Gossip out on the road for a short tour of some of the UK’s more intimate venues, this was a chance for fans to get up close with the dazzling pop star.
On the subject of vocalists who grab your attention, enter stage left Anna Shields, vocalist for support act Dead Pony. One of the rising names in UK rock in 2024, the band and, in particular, Anna, prove they can simply own any stage they grace. The Glaswegian band recently ripped up the stages of Reading and Leeds Festival with another high-energy performance and, airing tracks from their Ignore This album.
The stage, though, really belongs to Beth Ditto. Her arrival raises the roof of this well-known venue in Liverpool with all eyes glued on the singer as the band opens with “Listen Up.” From there on in, the band mix up the set with older crowd favourites and tracks from their sixth studio album, 2024’s Real Power.
Their first studio album in twelve years, the band treated fans to three tracks from the album in the form of “Act of God,” “Give It Up for Love,” and “Turn the Card Slowly,” clearly appreciating that these are loyal fans who have turned up in their masses to party to a live soundtrack of their much-missed Gossip faves.
Ditto herself looks like an absolute superstar, and watching her lead this dance-til-they-drop crowd through a glitzy rendition of the Whitney Houston hit “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” underlines exactly why the world needs a band like Gossip right now.
V13 sent our photographer, Maryleen Photography, to join the masses of fans in Liverpool. Check out her awesome photo gallery of both bands here, along with the Gossip setlist:
