Frank Turner’s Lost Evenings VII Panels Announced; Henry Rollins Convo Included!
Frank Turner’s Lost Evenings VII has announced its full lineup including its panels, taking place September 19th to 22nd in Toronto.
Frank Turner’s award-winning festival, Lost Evenings is now under two weeks away – taking place on September 19th to 22nd, 2024, at Toronto’s brand-new theatre at the Great Canadian Casino Resort.
All the music acts across the Main Stage, and Nick Alexander Stage have now been announced – 20 different acts across the four days as well as the four different headline shows from Frank where he’ll play over 80 songs from his back catalogue.
With the final elements of the festival coming together, the expansive Last Minutes programme can now be unveiled. Incorporating all the daytime activities which also run across the entire four days, Last Minutes includes pop-ups, open mic sessions, panels, and workshops where leading industry insiders, musicians, experts, and music professionals offer insight and advice to audiences. The full programme is as follows:
Cowboy Chords – The ever-popular open mic sessions will run daily all afternoon at the Signature Bar. Hosted this year by Black Guy Fawkes, any festival patron can sign up for a three-song set. $10 CAD entry with all proceeds going to Way Out Arts (WOA), a UK charity that changes the lives of street, disadvantaged and vulnerable people through the arts. Two guitars will be available to play on, and at the end of the festival, the guitars are raffled off to two lucky winners, with all proceeds going to WOA. Lost Evenings’ audiences are welcoming and supportive, so all are encouraged to take part.
Xtra Mile Recordings Takeover – As in previous years, indie label Xtra Mile Recordings (home to Frank Turner and many others) will be taking over part of Cowboy Chords on the Saturday. This year there will be short acoustic sets from The Sleeping Souls (acoustic), Hannah Rose Platt, and Tom Jenkins which will alternate with the open mic sessions throughout the afternoon. An excellent way to see these artists in a relaxed and informal setting.
Needles Flickering – This is the tattoo pop-up which will run over the festival period. Bespoke festival flash art is created especially for the event and appointments are by advance booking only. This year’s tattoo parlour is So Far So Good Tattoos – check the website for art and how to make an appointment. Bookings run from September 9th until 24th with 30 percent of the proceeds from all tattoos benefiting The Ally Coalition, an American non-profit that uses the power of music to support LGBTQ across the globe.
Panels/workshops – Also running daily, is an exciting programme of panels providing audiences with fun, entertaining insights, and conversations from the artists and organizers of this year’s Lost Evenings.
On Thursday, the festival kicks off with a bystander workshop courtesy of Calling All Crows followed by Frank Turner In Conversation with the one and only Henry Rollins. This is not to be missed.
Friday will host Frank and The Sleeping Souls discussing the ins and outs of the first five albums, moderated by Callum Green, followed by an all-Canadian star cast in conversation about the Canadian music scene.
Saturday will see Frank in the hot seat in the Ask Me Anything session. This festival highlight is always funny, and often heart-warming as fans get the chance to say and ask anything they want. This will be followed by a live podcast recording of “Women In Music x Women In Media” – hosted by Sarah Burke.
Finally, on Sunday, there are two Behind The Scenes panels. The first will peer behind the curtain of how the Lost Evenings Festival comes together. And the second lifts the lid of the economics of being an independent artist.
Charities – Charities play a central role in Lost Evenings and for the fifth consecutive year, Lost Evenings is partnering with The Ally Coalition (TAC) to bring a different local charity on-site each day to distribute resources and collect donations. A nightly raffle will raise money for TAC and local Toronto charities, featuring unique prizes from every band on the festival bill.
Frank says:
“The Last Minutes part of Lost Evenings is hugely important to me. It elevates the festival from being just about music to being about community and ideas. This year we have an amazing lineup of discussions, interviews, activism, and more, open for all attendees. Hopefully, people will go home from Toronto tapping their feet but also flexing their heads.”
