Emitill Premiere Their Impressive New Metalcore Single, “Labyrinth”
Iranian metalcore band Emitill premieres their new single, “Labyrinth,” from their upcoming debut album, ‘Fractured Realities.’
If the saying “too little, too late” resonates with you, then so will Emitill’s new single. Today marks the premiere of the band’s brand new single, “Labyrinth,” a nice example of a classic, no-nonsense metalcore track that will remind you of the genre’s golden age of the 2000s.
“Labyrinth” is the first single from the band’s upcoming debut album Fractured Realities. It’s a deep dive into the unpredictability of life and the winding journeys it takes us on. You can hear the frustration through lead singer Ali Zirak’s impassioned wails and howls.
The song expresses the discontent of feeling lost while relying on people you think you can count on. Little do you know, you’ve essentially been on your own the whole time.
Discussing the song, Zirak offers:
“The concept of ‘Labyrinth’ aligns closely with an old Iranian proverb: ‘Sohrab drinking his medicine after death.’ This proverb has its roots in the epic poem by the renowned Persian poet Ferdowsi, specifically in the tragic story of Rostam and his son Sohrab. In this tale, Rostam, a legendary Iranian hero, unknowingly kills his son Sohrab in combat. It is only after Sohrab’s death that Rostam realizes the grievous mistake he has made and futilely tries to administer a healing potion to his fallen son.
“This poignant story serves as a powerful metaphor for the song, highlighting the futility and sorrow of actions taken too late. This timely lesson is used to underscore the universal human experience of regret and the sorrow that accompanies missed opportunities.”
Emitill comes at you loaded with passion and aggression, fusing metalcore with other subgenres of metal. Primarily a duo consisting of Zirak and guitarist Armin Amiri, they originate from Tehran, Iran. As musicians, they have always had very eclectic interests, including EDM, trap, and orchestral music. Zirak has, for a long time, maintained a deep dedication to classical music, which he studied academically. Mahler, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, and Brahms are all as important to him as any modern metal act.
Each song on Fractured Realities is a look into the different shards of a fragmented reality. It’s consistent with Emitill’s thematic approach, addressing life’s harsh realities, which are hard to accept but eventually satisfying to embrace. The truth can make people feel uncomfortable and can elicit different reactions. Emitill is firmly focused on inspiring their listeners to embrace truth, reality, and, ultimately, themselves.
