Described by Boy George as “the bastard son of Jim Morrison & Desi Arnaz,” London-based singer-songwriter/musician Blair Jollands has just dropped his brand new release in the form of poignant new single “Don’t Cry.” The track is lifted from Blair’s upcoming album, Little Comet, due in March 2025.

Returning recently from his 2024 multi-date headline tour through Europe & Australasia, which saw him supporting Nick Oliveri & Rose Spearman in The Netherlands, Blair Jollands is currently in his London base working on his forthcoming LP due for release in October 2024.

Following on from the success of his single “The Breaking,” the latest taster of his upcoming album comes in the form of the new single “Don’t Cry,” and you can check out the exclusive premiere of the accompanying video.

Often compared vocally to the likes of Nick Cave, Rufus Wainright, and Scott Walker, Jollands had this to say about the single:

“This song is about loss… through my own experience and through my empathy with those locked in conflict. We tried using AI to create the canvas of the artwork to build from and that clumsy AI distortion you get in some of the image kind of reflected the sense of relinquishing that control in times of grief so we went with it.”

His career to date has seen Jollands win the admiration of both David Bowie and Boy George (who released Blair’s previous material under the name El Hula on his More Protein label). Blair is also known for his work on the Emmy & Golden Globe nominated Shackleton, Alien vs Predator and Pride, plus the Bafta-nominated Sky Atlantic series Fortitude starring Michael Gambon, and Netflix series Bodies, starring Stephen Graham. He has also worked with Madonna and Rhianna, jammed with Grace Jones and James ‘Sparks’ Sinclair (Johnny Cash), and collaborated with Gordon Raphael (The Strokes).

Blair Jollands is set to release his new album, Little Comet, on March 6th, 2025. To find out more about the album, head to Blair’s official website.

I have an unhealthy obsession with bad horror movies, the song Wanted Dead Or Alive and crap British game shows. I do this not because of the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle it affords me but more because it gives me an excuse to listen to bands that sound like hippos mating.
