Black Note Graffiti Release “The Source” Single off Upcoming New Album
Progressive metal band Black Note Graffiti has released their new single “The Source” from their forthcoming new album ‘Resist The Divide.’
Black Note Graffiti, the quickly rising progressive metal quartet, has dropped their latest single for “The Source.” The track is available today on all streaming platforms and will be included as part of their upcoming full-length Resist The Divide, available October 25th on all streaming platforms.
For the single and their upcoming album, Black Note Graffiti (BNG) has partnered with Golden Robot Global Entertainment, which has also worked with groups like Filter, L.A. Guns, and Bass Drum of Death. “The Source” and the upcoming album were produced by renowned producer Josh Schroder (Lorna Shore, King 810, Butcher Babies). Resist The Divide will include the singles “The Source” and “Place You Lie,” also paired with a recently released music video directed by William Wombat Felch of Wombat Fire Productions.
Resist The Divide, BNG’s fourth studio album continues to deliver a unique blend of progressive metal and melodic alternative rock. This distinctive sound has garnered them a dedicated fan base in Michigan and around the States. With plans for touring and festivals for fall/winter and throughout 2025, Black Note Graffiti is set to captivate rock and metal audiences alike. The band has already shared the stage with heavy hitters like Lamb of God, Bring Me The Horizon, Memphis May Fire, and Dorothy and played countless notable festivals, including SXSW, Upheaval Festival, NXNE Festival Toronto, and dozens of others.
Black Note Graffiti’s music explores the emotional struggles people face, especially the internal battles that come from self-destructive behaviours like addiction, trauma, or mental health challenges. Their songs, marked by intense vocals, powerful guitar riffs, and hard-hitting drums, focus on personal sacrifice and transformation themes. The band encourages listeners to let go of harmful thoughts and behaviours and embrace mindfulness, guiding them toward healing and self-redemption. Through their music, BNG highlights the ongoing challenges that persist even after overcoming internal struggles, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and self-awareness.
The band comments:
“‘The Source’ is a composition that underscores the subjugation an individual may endure when entangled in self-destructive tendencies. Terms such as ‘crawl’ and ‘kill’ are employed to metaphorically represent the perpetual and consuming cycle of addiction. Despite cognizance of the repercussions, it becomes apparent that the weight of one’s struggles is overwhelming, leading them to seek solace in the very thing causing their destruction. The concluding lyric, ‘Waking up to nothing real,’ conveys the aftermath of sobriety, where reality feels elusive and intangible.”
“The Source” producer Josh Schroder states:
“I had a blast working with Black Note Graffiti. Every member brings their own passion and personality to the record, and one of the many things I love about my job as a producer is to make sure those creative voices all work in tandem in the final mix. Too often, ‘producers’ favour the conveniences of modern recording techniques over getting something done right that truly represents the band.
“It’s not an accident that Black Note Graffiti’s best record is the one that sounds the most like them. Every band member knows exactly how much, and (often more important) how little to play to give their music phenomenal power and dynamics. Gabby is an absolute powerhouse of a vocalist. All they need now is the right opportunity to show the rest of the world what they can do because Black Note Graffiti has everything else primed for tremendous success.”
