Arthur Ahbez Prescribes Love with “A Simple Medication” Music Video [Premiere]
Arthur Ahbez premieres the music video for “A Simple Medication,” the next single from his new album, ‘Arthur Ahbez & The Flaming Ahbez.’
When it comes to Arthur Ahbez, you know that everything comes from an intensely personal place and that the best intentions are always in mind. Last month, we premiered the music video for “Reckless,” the first single from his third record, Arthur Ahbez & The Flaming Ahbez.
Now, it’s time for single and video #2, with the premiere of “A Simple Medication.” The singer-songwriter took a similar approach with this video as on “Reckless.” It again features a retro look with washed-out colours and a country spirit. There’s such a traditional element to Ahbez’s music that even if you didn’t grow up in the ’60s, you might feel that this is what the ’60s felt like.
Discussing his new single, Ahbez tells us:
“‘A Simple Medication’ tumbled from my soul in the shadowy alleys of Prague. Winter’s grip had me tight, but there I was, nestled in the bosom of that ancient city, feeling its old-world charms creep into my bones. Love was in the air, a rebirth of sorts, shedding the weight of a decade’s grind working back in New Zealand. Autumn left me full of inspiration, pure euphoria, the golden leaves slowly falling and the trees beginning to slumber. It was a magical place to be.”
Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Ahbez is a special artist for several reasons. Perhaps the most significant is his disregard of trends or movements. This is some of the most no-nonsense popular music you’ll hear in this day and age. It’s distinguishable, folk-focused rock n’ roll that comes straight from the heart. As he has stated himself, his songs are based on his own personal philosophy. Love, existential angst, joy, and trepidation all combine together to create one unique yet familiar experience. There are no rules or prerequisites with Ahbez. Time-honoured jams are on the menu with Arthur Ahbez & The Flaming Ahbez in Ahbez’s most extensive album yet.
