Blending various genres — from funky grooves and infectious pop to intimate acoustic moments and even bluegrass — the album offers listeners a musical journey through the city’s diverse sounds. The project, which took five years to complete, began as a spark of inspiration in the Catskills and evolved into a deeply personal exploration of Aaron’s creative potential.

It offers listeners an emotionally resonant and relatable narrative of growth and resilience.
With Twists and Turns, Bleiweiss showcases his versatility as a seasoned guitarist and songwriter. He weaves his personal experiences, emotional highs and lows, and moments of self-discovery into the fabric of each track. No stranger to the music industry, he transcends traditional genre boundaries to create a rich, textured sound that resonates with listeners on multiple levels.
Bleiweiss joined us today for an exclusive Track-by-Track rundown of his new album.
1. “The Spirit”
“Ah, The ‘Spirit’ of NYC! This bluesy ode to New York City captures the city’s relentless energy and vibrancy. It’s about the exhilarating chaos that, if you stop and really listen, reveals the soul of NYC. The song mirrors the city’s intensity, but also its ability to inspire new adventures if you’re attuned to its rhythm.”
2. “Breathe”
“Even though it’s been a few years, talking about this track can still be challenging because the memories it evokes remain so vivid. Losing a friend to cancer at 40 was an unimaginable loss. In a moment of stillness, with the silence filled only by his breath, the music began to flow from my guitar almost effortlessly.
“While some songs require a lot of time and effort to complete, this one came together quickly, perhaps as a way to honour and cherish the friend I had and the memories we shared.”
3. “Speed of Light”
“I’ve always been captivated by the iconic sound of the Moog synthesizer, a staple in countless classic records. When I acquired a Model D during my time in New York, its arrival immediately sparked the creation of the song’s signature line. Influenced by the funky grooves of Stevie Wonder and Jamiroquai, this track brings that classic Moog sound to the forefront.
“New York’s relentless pace is not for everyone. It demands a passion for the hustle. But this song serves as a reminder that it’s just as important to take a moment to breathe, slow down, and appreciate the journey.”
4. “Age Is Not a Number”
“Channeling my love for classic rock, I got to crank up the distortion on this one, a nod to influences like Led Zeppelin and Hendrix. It was sparked by a memorable trip to Europe for my wife’s 40th birthday, a milestone that prompted reflections on aging and adventure. One of my favourite parts is the buildup with the horns at the end. It gets me pumped up every time I listen to it!”
5. “Living It Up”
“This song carries a special place in my heart because of my daughter’s enthusiasm for it. Its syncopated rhythm evokes the city’s heartbeat, and the acapella outro pays homage to the street-corner and subway jam sessions that are a quintessential part of NYC’s music scene.”
6. “One and Only”
“This track is a love song for my wife Sara, that’s about all you need to know.”
7. “Spend a Little Time With Me”
“It’s okay to be different; different is interesting, different is good. You don’t have to always follow the norm to fit in. Be yourself, live like you want to live; “love and laughter it heals the rest.”
8. “Twists and Turns”
“The title track of the album captures the essence of navigating life’s unpredictable journey. It’s a musical metaphor for the crossroads we encounter, a reminder to stay present and open, as sometimes the most important paths are the ones we might otherwise overlook.”
9. “Wild Side”
“The horn outro on this track is one of my favourite elements; it’s so funky. Watching the song come to life in the studio was a pivotal moment for me. I liked the track before, but the addition of the horns really amplified its energy and vibe. The trumpet build-up and solo at the end add that extra punch and groove.”
10. “New York”
“Ah, the concrete jungle, where winters are too cold, and summers are too hot, yet the city’s allure never fades. This track captures that love with a jazzy twist, featuring a standup bass and smooth saxophone licks. I’ve always imagined hearing this tune in a rom-com, with a picturesque stroll through Central Park as the perfect visual backdrop.”
11. “The Happy”
“We could all use a little Happy in our lives. This track is one of the album’s most upbeat and funky numbers, weaving together a variety of sounds, changes, and dynamics. Although I wasn’t sure how all the elements would come together at first, I love how it turned out. I hope it takes listeners on a joyful and unexpected musical journey.”
