Tyler Childers brought his “Mule Pull Tour” to the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC, on August 8th. After a six-year absence, it was a long-awaited return for the singer and songwriter.
The opening act was Montreal singer and songwriter Allison Russell, who had just headlined her show in Vancouver just a few months earlier. During her performance, she showed her versatility, playing the guitar, banjo, and flute.
Childers’ stage was decorated beautifully, there was some greenery around an antique cabinet and television that looked straight out of an old farm.
The Food Stamps hit the stage, and Tyler opened up his set with “Shake the Frost,” “Country Squire,” and “I Swear (To God).” With some interventions in between songs, Tyler showed his great personality and how funny he could be and always had the fans laughing at his jokes.
After performing “Born Again,” he gave the band a small rest and remained on stage with just an acoustic guitar. He then performed three solo songs, “Lady May,” “Nose on the Grindstone,” and “Follow You to Virgie.”
Tyler continued his show with five more songs with the band and finished the performance with “Way of the Triune God” and “House Fire.” The fans were up for the entire presentation, singing along to each song, and could surely remain for another 23 songs.
