Maria Deirisarri Elicits Summer Nostalgia In Latest Single “bluejay”
Maria Deirisarri evokes summer nostalgia in “bluejay,” capturing the essence of a catchy summer romance with an elegant bossa nova flair.
Singer-songwriter, Maria Deirisarri, has debuted her highly anticipated first single of 2024, “bluejay,” following the success of her 2023 album, In the Beginning. “bluejay” embodies the essence of summer with its simple, sweet, and airy feel, designed to resonate deeply with listeners, especially those touched by the joys and heartaches of love.
Maria shares:
“The title of the song is actually an allusion to its muse’s name; but I wasn’t about to name it after him, so I chose the next best bird.”
The heartfelt lyrics of “bluejay” are drawn from Maria’s personal journey of saying goodbye, crafted as an unread love letter and a memento from one of the sweetest and most cherished summers of her life. Inspired by bossa nova, the song serves as a tribute to every moment shared with someone she could have loved, but for whom time ran out too soon.
For this single, Maria collaborated for the first time with Corey Kilgannon, a beloved folk artist known for “Slim Margins” and “God Is Just The Universe.” Recorded in Kilgannon’s studio on the second floor of Jacksonville’s Beaches Vineyard Church, the session offered Maria a unique ambiance unlike any of her previous projects. The use of analog technology in recording emphasized the importance of capturing perfect takes, resulting in a pure, unfiltered sound etched directly onto tape. “bluejay” is one of Maria’s favourite love songs, and fans will be thrilled to know it is the first of five new tracks from her upcoming EP, Si Vis Pacem.
